Late-Talkers

A late-talker is a toddler that is delayed in vocabulary growth and expressive language despite developing normally in all other areas, such as receptive language, play skills, social skills, and cognitive abilities. If your child is not meeting developmental milestones regarding his or her spoken language, he or she may be a late-talker and should be seen by a speech-language pathologist.

By 18-months: a toddler should have a least 20 words

By 24-months: a toddler should have approximately 100 words and should be combining 2 words together
